We hope everyone of you had a save journey home and that you are starting to enjoy a weekend full of thoughts inspired by the Assembling Identities conference. We would like to thank again everybody who came along as speaker and delegate to make this conference such a lively, thought-provoking and fun event. After we had a little breather we aim to upload podcasts featuring our keynote speakers’ talks so that you can listen to them again. We also plan to decorate the website with some photographs taken of the conference. So, we still have something to look forward to. Finally, we hope to see many of you again at the College of Arts Conference 2014.

22 01 2013‘Assembling Identities’: Postgraduate/Early-Career Researcher Conference
23rd-24th May 2013, University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow’s Graduate School of the College of Arts is delighted to announce ‘Assembling Identities’, an international and cross-disciplinary conference focusing on how we understand identity and the process of identity formation.
In light of recent and potential reconsiderations of national, disabled and religious identities, the conference will investigate some of the various ways in which identities, both established and marginal, can be – and have been – assembled and disassembled throughout the world.
The conference committee welcomes and encourages proposals for papers and other research-led contributions from postgraduate and early careers researchers that challenge or bridge the gap between the visual and performing arts, literature, history and other traditional and disciplinary boundaries.
- Political – Technological/Digital – National – Territorial- (Dis)Abled – Genre – Gender/Sexuality – Environmental
- Temporal – Cinematic – Race – Objective/Subjective
- Occupational – Performance – Class – (Mis)Remembered
- Critical identities – Created
- Religious/Moral – Ideological
We invite abstracts of no more than 200 words and a short bio (100 words) to be sent to the conference committee at
arts-assemblingidentities2013@glasgow.ac.uk by Friday 1st March 2013.
Please specify the format of your proposed contribution:
Any queries should be addressed to arts-assemblingidentities2013@glasgow.ac.uk.
